Dr. Denis Gris has started his scientific career with the Master's and Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Dr. Lynn Weaver's laboratory at the University of Western Ontario. He studied the role of inflammation in spinal cord injury. He discovered that the influx of neutrophils is detrimental for recovering after spinal cord injury. Using anti CD11d antibody as a treatment, he demonstrated that animals recovered faster and better after the treatment. Also, he showed that sever spinal cord injury results in massive inflammatory reactions throughout the body leading to syndrome similar to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome. Dr. Denis Gris continued his education in Dr. Jenny P-Y Ting's laboratory as a post doctoral fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There he studied in detail mechanism of activation of innate and adoptive immune responses. In collaboration with Dr. Wen, Dr. Eitas, Dr. Allen, and other members of the laboratory, Dr. Gris studied inflammation during obesity which leads to insulin resistance; innate and adoptive responses during multiple sclerosis. In summary, his role in this laboratory was to define the role of novel family of immuno regulatory proteins (NLRs) in different human diseases. Currently, Dr. Denis Gris is a member of Immunology Program at the University of Sherbrooke and he is studying neuro-immune interactions during healthy state and disease.

Dr Ciccone B.S., D.C. is a 2005 graduate of New York Chiropractic College. Upon graduation Dr. Ciccone opened his own practice in central Massachusetts, moving to his current location in Lancaster 7 years ago with a mission to help people, in particular families, understand and achieve health. Dr. Ciccone first became interested in Chiropractic while pursuing a Medical degree. He received a fellowship from American Cancer Society and a full scholarship to pursue his MD. and PhD. Yet the more time he spent in hospitals, the more he felt something was missing. As he studied with other healthcare professionals, he began to understand the importance of caring for the patient as opposed to caring for the disease.

Dr. Pappolla's training included 3 complete medical residencies and 2 fellowships (Neurology, Clinical Pathology, Anatomic Pathology, Neuropathology, Pain Medicine), a PhD in human aging with a postdoc/sabbatical in molecular biology and over 20 years of academic practice. He holds active board certifications in these 5 areas (Neurology, Clinical Pathology, Anatomic Pathology, Neurology, Pain Medicine). Some of his research work is cited in several thousand textbooks worldwide, with many papers reaching from 300 to over 1000 citations in peer reviewed journals. His lab was the first to identify evidence of oxidative stress in Alzheimer's disease brain. In collaborations with Dr. Larry Refolo, Dr Suzana Petanceska at the NIH, Dr. Daniel Zambon in Spain and others, Dr. Pappolla conducted groundbreaking research on hypercholesterolemia as an early risk factor for Alzheimer's disease. As a neuropathologist, he described several unique neuropathologic lesions including the colloid body of Parkinson's disease (later renamed "pale body") and the ubiquitinilated "dot like inclusions" in aged brains. One other important contribution to neuroscience was the development of neuroprotective drugs as potential therapeutic agents. Dr. Pappolla's lab identified of several naturally occurring neuroprotective substances like indole-3-propionic acid and others which are now emerging as powerful neuroprotective substances. Dr. Pappolla served as a consultant for the National Institutes of Health in the United States including being a chartered member of numerous study sections for over 25 years and as a full professor or faculty at several medical schools (LSU New Orleans, Mount Sinai Medical School in New York City, University of Texas) where he taught Neurosciences to medical students and medical residents for over 20 years. Dr. Giulio Maria Pasinetti, The Saunders Family Chair and Professor of Neurology, received an M.D. from the Milan University School of Medicine and a Ph.D. from the University of Milan. He is currently the Program Director of the NIH funded Mount Sinai Center for Molecular Integrative Neuroresilience and the Chief of the Brain Institute Center of Excellence for Novel Approaches to Neurodiagnostics and Neurotherapeutics. He is also a Professor of Psychiatry, of Neuroscience, and of Geriatrics and Adult Development. Dr. Pasinetti is the recipient of several academic awards including the prestigious Zenith and Temple awards from the Alzheimer's Association. Most recently, Dr. Pasinetti was awarded ''The Faculty Council Award'' for academic excellence at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and "The Charles Dana Alliance for Brain Research Award" from Dana Foundation, recognizing productivity and worldwide leadership in his field of expertise, which further emphasizes his standing as an academic role model.
